Los Angeles- Rooftop of a warehouse, minutes before twilight, models posing, cameras clicking, and I turned to the lead singer, “So Danny, how did you get this networking gig?”
“Oh we knew one of the guys that put this event together. This time is not paid, but it’s okay, we get to play our music,” he replied in that forever laid back tone.![]()

I remembered catching The Black Beacon Sound at random backyard gigs back in Montebello about a year ago. Started from playing covers to “Acid Eyes” their first original single to having loyal fans of their own, this local band of friends had come quite a long way. They played at bars, lounges, campus, backyards, warehouses, you name it. The Black Beacon Sound was dedicated to music, and only music. There was certain sincerity as their sounds projecting through the air to reach their audience. The band wanted you to feel what they felt, and to groove as they do. “We just want you to vibe with us and have a good time,” as quoted from the bandmates.
In this demanding world of fame and wealth, there was something just so pure about young musicians in local bands that I absolutely adore. They wouldn’t care how much they would earn or how many people were gathered, as long as one person came, they were here to share with you a unique connection that only music could accomplish.
So if you are in L.A. and you crave an alternative urban scene away from the capitalism, I give you The Black Beacon Sound.
